A good template removes the guesswork. Here's how to structure a free, ATS-safe Australian resume — and how to make sure it actually passes the bots.
What an ATS-safe template looks like
Single column, standard fonts, clear section headings, no tables or graphics. Anything fancier risks being unreadable to the ATS. CVMate's Classic template follows exactly this structure.
The sections to include
- Contact details — name, Australian phone, email, city + state, LinkedIn.
- Professional summary — 3–5 lines, tailored to the role.
- Key skills — matched to the job ad.
- Work experience — reverse chronological, quantified achievements.
- Education — qualification, institution, year.
- Referees — at least two, with full contact details.
