The wrong font can stop an Applicant Tracking System from reading your CV. Here are the fonts that pass — and the ones to avoid — for Australian resumes in 2026.
Best ATS-safe fonts
- Calibri — clean, modern, the safest default.
- Arial — universally readable.
- Garamond — professional serif, good for senior roles.
- Helvetica, Georgia, Cambria — all reliable.
Use 10–12pt for body text and 14–18pt for your name. Keep one font throughout.
Fonts to avoid
- Custom Canva or display fonts — often rendered as images the ATS can't read.
- Thin or decorative fonts that hurt readability.
- Multiple fonts mixed across the document.
Font is only half the battle
