Australian resume questions, answered

Use an example for direction—not as permission to invent experience.

Should I call it a resume or a CV in Australia?
Australian employers commonly use both terms for a job application document. “Resume” is more common in many private-sector roles, while “CV” is also widely understood and is often used for academic or research applications.
How long should an Australian resume be?
One page can work for a student or early-career applicant, while two to three pages is common for an experienced candidate. Keep only the detail that helps prove your fit for the role.
Should an Australian resume include a photo?
Usually no. Unless an employer specifically requests one or appearance is directly relevant to the role, use the space for skills, experience and evidence of your work instead.
Can I copy a resume example exactly?
Use the structure and phrasing as a guide, but replace every claim with your own experience. Tailor the skills and evidence to the job ad, and never include qualifications or results you cannot support.
What makes a resume easier for ATS software to read?
Use familiar section headings, a simple reading order and text-based content. Mirror relevant language from the job ad naturally, without keyword stuffing or adding skills you do not have.

Your experience. Your words. A stronger structure.
